Program Description:  Many of the principles of sustainable design have been around as long as designers have been designing.  In today’s context, however, practicing “green design” presents a new set of risks for the AE.  We will examine the obvious and the not so obvious risks of going green, the role of insurance and current trends regarding “green” claims.

About the presenter:

J. Willcox Dunn III, with Vandeventer Black LLP, represents architects, engineers, construction managers, owners and contractors in a variety of design and construction-related disputes and contract negotiations.  Mr. Dunn received his B. Arch., with highest honors, from Pratt Institute, and his J.D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law where he was a Senior Editor for the Virginia Environmental Law Journal.  Prior to starting a second career in law, Mr. Dunn spent thirteen years as a designer and project manager for prominent architecture firms in Virginia and New York, and as an historic preservation specialist.
